Donald A. Creaghan

Donald A. Creaghan, 70, of Wedgewood Avenue, Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, September 17, 1995 after a sudden illness.

Born February 9, 1925 in Newcastle, he was the son of late Jack and Alice (Marven) Creaghan. He was educated in Commerce and studied at St. Francis Xavier University and Queen’s University. Most of his working life was dedicated to J.D. Creaghan Co. Ltd. of which he was President for several years prior to his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Riverview.

He was very active in competitive curling at both provincial and national levels when representing the Newcastle and Beaver Curling Clubs. He was also the Past President of the Newcastle Curling Club, Past President of the Miramichi Golf and Country Club, Past President of the Kinsmen Club, Past President of Moncton Downtown Inc. and he was a former Town Councillor in Newcastle. He was also a member of the Moncton Probis Club, the K-40, The Gyro, the Beaver Curling Club and the Moncton Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara K. (Foran) Creaghan; two daughters, Mary and her husband Paul Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona, USA, Anne and her husband Jeff Hall of Oakville, Ont.; four grandchildren, Cindy, Brett, Brendan and Lindsay; two brothers, William and his wife Thérèse Creaghan of Fredericton, Marven and his wife Davida Creaghan of Newcastle; two sisters, Clare and her husband, Bernard Flinton of Florida, USA, Carol and her husband Jules Picot of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his elder sister, Mrs. Marion Friel.

Resting at Riverview Funeral Home; 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview, with visiting hours on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 19, 1995 at 8:30.p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Fatima Drive, Riverview, on Wednesday, September 20, 1995 at 10 a.m. with Father Daniel Bohan officiating. Interment in Alderwood Cemetery, Riverview.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the Church Hall following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the New Brunswick Lung Association or The Friends of The Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
