Business leader dead at 70

Donald A. Creaghan, former president of J. D. Creaghan Ltd., died Sunday at The Moncton Hospital at age 70. Creaghan was a son of Jack Creaghan and a member of the Creaghan firm most of his working life. He had been company president for several years on his retirement in 1987.

Besides the clothing business, he was also active in sports, service clubs and civic office.

A former Newcastle town councillor, he also held the office of president of the Moncton Down-town Inc. development organization.

His activities also included membership on several service and recreational clubs including a past presidency of the Newcastle Curling Club, the Miramichi Golf and Country Club, a member of the Beaver Curling Club, the Moncton Golf and Country Club, the Kinsmen Club, the Moncton Probis Club, the K-40 and the Gyro Club.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, two daughters, four grandchildren, two brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Riverview.
