Dr. Mark Creaghan

Dr. Mark Creaghan died on March 12, 1997, in his native town of Newcastle, New Brunswick, following a courageous fight against cancer. Survived by his wife, Sally Ann Fleming of Toronto, and his daughter, Alexandra Creaghan, and her husband Scott Sage of Mississauga, Ontario, and his brother, Thomas W. Creaghan of Mississauga. Beloved grandfather of Scott Gordon David Sage and Reid Robert Mark Sage of Mississauga. Predeceased by his son, Gordon Mark Creaghan and by his brothers, Richard P. Creaghan, Alan B. Creaghan, John D. Creaghan, and sister Honora (Nonie) Creaghan Bunting.

He did active service in World War II from 1943 to 1945 with the Royal Canadian Navy on North Atlantic convoy duty. In 1946 he received his B.Sc. Degree from the University of New Brunswick and his M.D. Degree in 1951 from the University of Toronto. In 1972 he was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCS). From 1986 to 1989 he was President of the Medical Staff of Miramichi Hospital, Newcastle, and Chief of Surgical Department from 1982 to 1990. In 1996, he received his Life Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society. An active sailor and outdoorsman, he was a member of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, the Northumberland Strait Yachting Association and the Miramichi Boating and Yacht club.

The funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle, NB, 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 15.
