Clare Flinton (née Creaghan)

With great sadness the family of Clare Rock Flinton announces her death in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 after a period of illness.

She was born October 20, 1930, in Newcastle, NB, to John A. Creaghan and Alice Marven.

Besides her parents, Clare was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony Rock, and her second husband Bernard W. Flinton. Also predeceased by her sister Marion (late Donal Friel), and her brothers Judge William Creaghan (Thérèse), Donald Creaghan (Barbara), and Marven Creaghan (Davida).

Clare is survived by her daughter Victoria Rock (David Duble), San Francisco, CA, her son Tony Rock (Kate), Brooklyn, NY, her four beloved grandchildren, Antonia, Quinby, Clare and Caroline, her sister Carol (Jules Picot), Fredericton, NB, many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.

Clare grew up in Moncton, NB. She graduated from Moncton High School, studied at St. Francis Xavier University, was awarded a B.A. by The College of New Rochelle in New York. She worked as an airline reservation agent, secretary, and real estate agent in Atlantic Canada, New York State and Florida.

In her lifetime Clare showed great warmth, dignity, courage and generosity. She enjoyed travel, playing croquet, music, movies, and receiving her family and friends.

Clare’s remains will be buried at a later date with those of her husband, Anthony Rock, in Massachusetts.

If so desired, a donation in Clare’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
