Newcastle (Special) – The death of Mrs. Marguerite (Rita) Kathleen Creaghan occurred at her residence 125 Pleasant Street, Newcastle early Friday morning.
She was the widow of D.S. Creaghan.
Born in Harcourt she was the daughter of the late David Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Weland) Buckley.
Mrs. Creaghan was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Newcastle and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Women’s League.
She was active in local Red Cross branch work during the war years and was a former member of the Lord Beaverbrook chapter of I.O.D.E.
She is survived by five sons, John D. and Dr. Mark of Newcastle, Richard of Fredericton, Thomas of Georgetown, Ont., and Alan of Montreal; one daughter, Mrs. Norah Bunting of Newcastle; one brother, Lee Buckley of Newcastle.
The body will rest at the residence after 1 p.m. today.
Funeral mass will be held Monday morning at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
Interment was in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.
Newcastle (special) – The funeral of Mrs. Marguerite (Rita) Kathleen Creaghan widow of Donald S. Creaghan of Newcastle was held in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church concelebrated by Rev. T. McKendy, Rev. D. Harriman, Rev. Robert Gratton, and Rev. S. Diotte, Rev. D. J. Warner, Rev. J. B. Smith, Rev. J. E. Dunn, and Rev. H. McGrath were in the sanctuary.
St. Mary’s Church Choir attended.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Judge William Creaghan, James Buckley, David Creaghan, Frank Creaghan, Marven Creaghan, and Paul Creaghan, MLA.
Prayers at the grave were read by Rev. D. J. Warner.
Interment was in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery.
