John A. Creaghan

The death of John A. Creaghan (1891–1972), QC, of 137 Bromley Avenue, a well-known Moncton barrister, occurred on Wednesday at Moncton City Hospital.

He was born in Newcastle, a son of the late John D. Creaghan and Ellen (Adams) Creaghan.

Mr. Creaghan retired from his practice as an attorney in 1965. He was a member of the law firm of Creaghan & Creaghan in Moncton.

He was also a member of St. Augustine’s Church in Moncton. He was Mayor of Newcastle at one time and was a senior member of the J.D. Creaghan Co.

Mr. Creaghan is survived by his wife, the former Alice Marven; three daughters, Mrs. Donal Friel (Marion) of Moncton, Mrs. Anthony Rock (Clare) of New York and Mrs. Jules Picot (Carol) of Fredericton; three sons, Judge William L.M. Creaghan of Fredericton, Donald A. Creaghan of Moncton and Marven Creaghan of Newcastle; one sister Miss Aileen Creaghan of Newcastle; and one brother, William V. Creaghan of Moncton.

The body is resting at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, Moncton from where the funeral will be held to St. Augustine’s Church on Saturday with service at 9:30 am.

Interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Chartersville, Westmorland County.
